STEPHEN MINISTRIES
Remembering those we love this holiday season
help others, and grow in faith
What Is Stephen Ministries?
Becoming a Stephen Minister in your church is a life-transforming experience—an opportunity to serve God,
help others, and grow in faith. Use the link below to learn more about what it means to become a Stephen Minister.
Becoming a Care Receiver
Are you lonely, sad, or discouraged? Are you going through a tough time emotionally or spiritually? Struggling with a life crisis? Consider letting a Stephen Minister help. A Stephen Minister is a member of our congregation trained to listen, care, encourage, pray, and walk alongside you during a difficult time for as long as needed. You and your Stephen Minister will meet once a week for about an hour.
If Lea's story resonates with you, we encourage you to seek help by contacting a pastor or the Stephen Ministry leaders at stephenministries@wholelife.church.
What Stephen Ministry Means to Me
by Rhonda Rilea
The leaders of The Whole Life Church have worked tirelessly to develop the Stephen
Ministry Program. There so many people in our community who are grieving and
hurting over hardships and loss. They need someone to walk beside them as they work
through these issues. Stephen Ministers are well-trained to provide this high level of
care.
It was an honor to be the hands and feet of Jesus. It was pure joy to watch them grow
and lean on Jesus as they dealt with these issues. Before I met with my Care Giver each
time, I would pray this prayer from Matthew 21:22 (The Clear Word):
“When you ask God for help, and believe you will receive it,
He will help you in ways that will amaze you!”
God showed up every time and spoke through me.
This program has also helped me in my personal life. I am a much better listener now
and am more empathetic to the needs of others.
I strongly encourage anyone who has an interest in walking beside others through their
healing journey to become a part of this most meaningful ministry. Not only will your
Care Receiver, be blessed, but you will be blessed, as well.
